Meet Jeannie

Jeannie Cunnion is a Jeannie Cunnion is a bestselling author and beloved Bible teacher. Her most recent books and Bible studies include Never Alone, Don’t Miss Out, Mom Set Free, Mom Set Free Bible Study, and Parenting the Wholehearted Child.  She has also been a frequent speaker at women’s conferences and parenting events around the country for the last decade.

Jeannie's passion is Jesus. This is her story, this is her song. And her desire is to live in the freedom for which Christ has set us free, experience the personal presence of God in her daily life, and live in the power of His Spirit. She writes and speaks with the hope of encouraging and equipping others do the same, because Jesus is LIFE. As evidenced in each of her books and Bible studies, Jeannie’s writing is woven with humility, transparency, wisdom, and a contagious love for the Good News.

Jeannie is a frequent guest on popular podcasts, and her work has been featured on outlets such as The Today Show, Fox News, CBN, and Focus on the Family. She has a Master’s degree in Social Work, and previous to writing, she traveled the country (48 states to be exact) as a family counselor and adoption advocate. These days you’re most likely to find her driving carpool, coordinating chaos, cheering for her boys on the sidelines of their games, or singing worship songs off-key in her kitchen while trying not to burn anything. (Burning food is a gift of hers.)

As for what makes her happy – that would be worshipping Jesus, hiking with her family, cheering for Auburn football, stringing words together, water in every form, traveling anywhere warm, reading a great book, singing like nobody’s listening, and simply being at home with her family.

This is my story and these are my people.

I’m a Jesus lover, a grace-clinger, and a Good News sharer. I love to write about God’s grace because I know how much I need God’s grace! (“Nothing in my hands I bring, simply to thy cross I cling!”)

I'm the wife of one really good man and the mom of five incredible boys who range in age from seven to twenty-six. (Which reminds me I need to update this family photo…) If we were sitting with each other right now, you’d see the smile on my face as I write this to you and reflect on how God turned our family into a “party of seven” when we welcomed Andre into our family.

Andre grew up at a home for orphans in Haiti called Danita’s Children’s Home, a place that stole our hearts back in 2014. When our family began taking annual trips to the orphanage, we began to build beautiful relationships with the precious children there. This ultimately led to the privilege of welcoming Andre into our family in 2019 so he could attend college and pursue his dreams. He is currently a senior at Lipscomb University, and we have partnered with him to launch The 509 Foundation, in hopes of giving other children in Haiti the same opportunity to pursue a life of purpose and impact.

The incredible privilege of raising these five boys alongside my husband, Mike, has expanded my heart and …….. exposed my weaknesses! Maybe you know a little something about that if you’re a parent. And God teaches me so much about His character (His sovereignty, love, goodness, faithfulness, forgiveness, and mercy) through my need for Him as a mama. One thing is certain, I love being their mom in ways I can’t quite explain.

I grew up as a “Preacher’s Kid” and I've been following Jesus (though often stumbling along) for most of my life, but it wasn't until my late thirties that God opened my eyes to the great depths of His grace and set me so very free from:

  • the pressure to be perfect for my kids

  • performing for the love and acceptance of God

  • pretending I have it all together with others

And this is the Good News of the Gospel that I pray you will find woven into everything you read here. His grace is for each and every one of us. None of us have wandered too far or messed up too much. God is relentless in His pursuit of us. And when we put our trust in His Son, He takes up residence in us, giving us His Holy Spirit, to empower us to walk faithfully with Him, and allowing us to enjoy His presence in our daily lives. Can you think of anything better?

I’d love for you to join my (very sporadic)newsletter and follow along on Instagram (which is where I do most communication) so we can pursue Jesus together!
